Defending National Tour Champion Monica Webb
The grand finale of this season, the 2009 WPBA National Tour Championships will be held once again at the beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL, November 11 – 15th, 2009. This is the second season that this prestigious and important event has been held there and we look forward to returning to this fantastic venue. The field will be made up of 64 competitors; 63 players will be invited based on year to date rankings posted after the upcoming WPBA Pacific Coast Classic. The final spot is being filled by Ms. Theresa Nunez, a wildcard invited into this event, who is representing the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The points earned from this event will determine the top 48 ranked players at the end of this year who will move into 2010 with a guaranteed exemption into all WPBA events, so finishing high will be of the utmost importance.
The Seminole Hard Rock and Seminole Pro Tour is hosting the 4th Annual Steve Mizerak Championship, the finale of the 2009 Seminole Pro Tour, a series of 10-ball tournaments held throughout the southeast region and will feature some of the top Male professionals in the world. This event will be held side-by-side with the 2009 WPBA National Tour Championships and the WPBA looks forward to this special tournament.
Former NFL and Miami Dolphin greats, Mark Duper and Mark Clayton, will kick off the Championships with a Celebrity Charity Pro-Am on November 11th at the Seminole Hard Rock Live. Current and retired athletes, local media personalities and professional billiards players will team up to compete in a friendly and exciting tournament. Spectators are welcome to watch for a $20 donation or may also enter into the tournament for a $100 donation per player. Guests will also enjoy music, food, drinks and a silent auction with unique sports memorabilia presented by Field of Dreams. All proceeds benefit Vivian Villarreal’s foundation Vivian’s Kidz, for missing and exploited children.
The non-televised portion of the WPBA Tour Championships, from Thursday, November 11 through Saturday, November 14th, will be streamed live over the internet thanks to our 2009 Presenting Sponsor for Web Streaming, Pooldawg.com.
Last year’s Champion, Monica Webb, says this about the event; "I’m looking forward to returning to the Hard Rock. It will always have a special place in my heart, being the place where I won my first WPBA Title, and a Major! I’m in top form and ready to defend last year’s trophy."
She’ll look to defend against a tough field of competitors, including the hottest player on tour right now, Ga Young Kim, who has won the last two WPBA Events including the 2009 WPBA U.S. Open 9 Ball Championships, having defeated 14 consecutive players all in the winner’s bracket.
