Monica Webb
Monica Webb has been a WPBA pro since 1999,
recently winning back-to-back titles and becoming the #1
ranked player in the world of women's professional
billiards. Her titles include the 2008 WPBA National Tour Championship
and the 2009 San Diego Classic.
Q: Congratulations on your two recent title wins. Take us through your matches
in San Diego that put you in the finals. Who were your
toughest competitors?
A: I would say Kim White and Yu Ram Cha. Both were close and they played great against me. It was a lot of fun but very crucial spots within the tournament. The first was very early to have possibly gotten a lose and the second was in the single
elimination rounds.
Q: Take us through the final match. What were you thinking? How did you stay focused?
A: I was enjoying the finals so much. With the pressure of winning my 1st behind me it was more enjoyable. I tried to stay in the present and just take care of any
opportunities I might have.
Q: Was there a point when you said to yourself "This is mine. This match belongs to me."?
A: Yes. On the final 8 ball that I was shooting with a bridge. But I chased
that thought away and stayed focused.
Q: You finished 2008 ranked #4 among women's professional players. Very impressive. How are you feeling this year?
A: I feel like #1 baby!!!!
Q: And you are now ranked #1. How does it feel to
have reached the top?
A: Like I'm walking on clouds. I'm still trying to
take it all in.
Q: Anything new happening in your life this year?
A: Yes. I have a new pool room opening up in my home town of Villa Rica, GA.
Q: Do you offer any billiards clinics for up-and
-coming players? If so, how can they reach you?
A: Yes! Call (678)523-4272
Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit
with us. We wish you the best on the tour this year, and
hope your new pool room is wildly successful.
